Comparative transcriptome analysis reveals differentially expressed genes and signaling pathways between male and female mature gonads of <i>Hemibarbus maculatus</i>

Hemibarbus maculatus is a globally important species for its value in fisheries and aquaculture. There relatively little information available about this species' sexual development genes. Therefore, study, we used the technology of high-throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), to investigate if ovary testis' differently expressed genes (DEGs) during sex differentiation H. maculatus. Our results revealed total 43,468,248 39,241,362 qualified reads were generated female male libraries, 32,127 unigenes assembled via annotation analysis. Moreover, 17,808 found be DEGs between males females, with 12,726 up- 5082 downregulated ovaries testes, respectively. The transcriptome analysis there are 23 testes maculatus, which may involved determination. expression patterns these validated by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR). qPCR generally consistent RNA-seq results.
